The Frankfurter Kantorei is a choir that was founded in 1945 by Kurt Thomas in Frankfurt am Main . He was followed in 1969 by Helmuth Rilling , who partly used the choir for his complete recording of the Bach cantatas . From 1982 to 1997 Wolfgang Schäfer was artistic director of the Frankfurt Kantorei. Today Winfried Toll leads the choir. Concert tours abroad and CD recordings are an integral part of the choir's activities. The choir was awarded the Binding Culture Prize in 2000.
