Frankie Adams
Frankie Adams (born January 3, 1994 in Savaiʻi , Samoa ) is a Samoan- New Zealand actress and boxer , who gained fame primarily for the role of Bobbie Draper from the science fiction series The Expanse .
Life and acting career
Frankie Adams was born in Samoa, the eldest of three daughters. When she was three years old, they moved to Auckland , New Zealand, where she attended the Auckland Girls' Grammar School. The father died when Adams was six years old. In New Zealand she learned the English language; she can communicate in Samoan , although she has problems with pronunciation.
In 2010 she was cast in the New Zealand soap Shortland Street in the role of Ula Levi , which she played until 2014. She auditioned for the role at 16 while she was in high school. This was followed by a role in the series Wentworth . Since 2017 she can be seen as Sergeant Bobbie Draper in the science fiction series The Expanse . In 2016, she also played the leading role in the film drama One Thousand Ropes , which premiered at the 2017 Berlinale . In 2018 she starred as Yasmina Rashid in the movie Mortal Engines: War of the Cities .
Boxing
Adams participated as a boxer in the charity event Fight for Live . She was trained by the Tongan boxer Lolo Heimuli . In the meantime, after her breakthrough in acting also in the USA, she boxed less than she did when she was a teenager in order to avoid injuries and thus possible lost work.
