Roman Lazik

Roman Lazik (* 1978 in Bratislava ) is a Slovak ballet dancer. In 2003 he became principal soloist in the Bavarian State Ballet . Since 2007 he has been engaged in the ballet of the Vienna State Opera , where Manuel Legris appointed him Principal Soloist of the Vienna State Ballet in 2010 .
Life
From 1989 to 1996 Lazik studied at the Eva Jaczova Dance Conservatory in Bratislava . One year before graduating, he was engaged as a soloist by the ballet of the Slovak National Theater.
This was followed by engagements with the South African PACT Ballet in Pretoria and Israel Ballet in Tel Aviv . In 1999 Roman Lazik returned to Bratislava as first soloist. A year and a half later he took the position of demi-soloist at the Bavarian State Ballet in Munich . There he advanced to soloist (2001) and finally principal soloist (2003).
Four years later he switched to the ballet of the Vienna State Opera , where in 2010 he was appointed Principal Soloist of the Vienna State Ballet by the director Manuel Legris .
repertoire
In addition to the leading roles in the classical repertoire, Lazik also danced leading roles in neoclassical and contemporary works by George Balanchine , Jerome Robbins , Roland Petit , Kenneth MacMillan , Frederick Ashton , Rudolf Nurejew , Pierre Lacotte , Patrice Bart , Ray Barra , Serge Lifar , Harald Lander , Rudi van Dantzig , Jiří Kylián , Mats Ek , John Neumeier , William Forsythe , Hans van Manen , Lucinda Childs , Graeme Murphy, Twyla Tharp , Jorma Elo, Nils Christe, Boris Eifman , Jean-Christophe Maillot, Christopher Wheeldon , Edwaard Liang, Ashley Page , Patrick de Bana, Davide Bombana , Edward Clug and Jacopo Godani.
As part of guest appearances and galas, he toured numerous countries in Europe as well as the USA , Canada , Japan , China , India and New Zealand . Lazik can be seen on television broadcasting the New Year's Concert by the Vienna Philharmonic and the opening of the Vienna Opera Ball .

- 1996: 1st place at the ÖTR contest in Vienna
- 1996: Prime Minister of Slovakia Prize
- 1997: Finalist of the Eurovision Contest of Young Dance Artists in Gdansk
- 1999: Prize of the Literary Fund of Slovakia
