Davide Bombana (born December 24, 1958 in Milan ) is an Italian ballet dancer and choreographer .

Life

Davide Bombana studied at the La Scala ballet school . It was there that he was hired for the first time. He made his debut in the title role of Firebird ( Maurice Béjart ) and subsequently appeared in works by Béjart, Tetley , Nurejew , Jerome Robbins , George Balanchine and Falco. Bombana also took on engagements in Pennsylvania , Philadelphia , Glasgow and London , but returned to Scala as a guest.

From 1986 to 1991 he was the first solo dancer at the Bavarian State Opera , where he was also active as a choreographer until 1998. For Munich he worked on fragments of Woyzeck , Schönberg opus 4 and the ballets Luigi-Nono-Projekt as well as A Dream Play after August Strindberg .

In 1998/99 he was ballet director of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and created the ballet Teorema after Pasolini . He is now internationally active, with the Ballet du Rhin and the Ballet du Capitole de Toulouse, the Queensland Ballet in Brisbane, the Zaragoza Ballet in Spain, the Ballet de l'Opéra de Paris , the Grand Ballet de Genève and the Aalto Ballet food .

Bombana prefers to choose literary models for his narrative ballets: including subjects such as Penthesilea , Woyzeck , Lolita or dangerous love affairs .

With the soloists of the Vienna State Ballet, he choreographed the interludes for the New Year's Concert 2012 and 2015 of the Vienna Philharmonic .

For his work he received the Bavarian Theater Prize , the Benois de la Danse in Moscow and the Danza e Danza Prize in Italy.
