Frans Haarsma

Frans Haarsma (born July 19, 1921 in Balk , Friesland , Netherlands ; † November 25, 2009 in Nijmegen , Gelderland , Netherlands) was a Roman Catholic theologian .

Frans Haarsma first taught dogmatic theology at the seminary of the former archdiocese in Rijsenburg, after the dioceses were renamed pastoral theology at the Radboud University in Nijmegen . As a priest he was incardinated in the Archdiocese of Utrecht .

Haarsma was active in the ecumenical movement, especially the Sint Willibrord Vereniging , and was significantly involved in the Dutch ecclesiastical province in the period after the Second Vatican Council . At the time he was traded as a possible successor to Bernard Jan Cardinal Alfrink in the office of Archbishop of Utrecht.
