Frans van Mieris (II) ( Jacob Houbraken )

Frans van Mieris the Younger (born November 24, 1689 in Leiden , † October 22, 1763 in Leiden ) was a Dutch genre and portrait painter and etcher . He was apprenticed to his father Willem van Mieris , a son of the famous Frans van Mieris the Elder . Like his father and grandfather, he consistently continued the tradition of the Leiden fine painting founded by Gerard Dou .

  • "Groot charterboek der graven van Holland, van Zeeland en herren van vriesland" (Leipz. 1753–56, 4 vols.)
  • "Handvesten der stad Leyden" (Leiden 1759, 2 vol .; the 1st volume and the additions to the same were provided by Daniel van Alphen ).
