Raw material warehouse

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The raw material warehouse (opened on March 22, 1997 , closed on September 19, 2010 ) was one of the most famous Zurich techno clubs .

The founders took the legendary house clubs Loft ( New York ) and Warehouse ( Chicago ) as models . In addition to the house and techno parties on Saturdays, the Flatground label organized hip-hop parties and drum and bass parties on Fridays. The first location was the former raw material warehouse of the Steinfels soap factory in Zurich-West . The organizers saw the most important requirement that the facility should support the rustic building fabric and not compete with it. Attempts have been made to incorporate the characteristic atmosphere of the warehouse into the design.

On April 1, 2000, the raw material warehouse changed location. In the vicinity of the Oerlikon train station , the operators continued the previous concept in the former production hall of the Accu battery factory , again in an industrial hall with the typical warehouse character.

On March 1, 2003, the raw materials warehouse reopened its doors at a new location. Back in District 5 in the old Toni area in the immediate vicinity of the Tonimolkerei, which was run by the same organizers.

On September 18, 2010, the raw material warehouse held the last party before it had to close on September 19.
