František Balej

František Balej (born September 29, 1873 in Kounice near Český Brod , † November 4, 1918 in Prague ) was a Czech lawyer, translator and humanistic philosopher.

Life

After studying at the Pedagogical Faculty in Prague, Balej worked as a lawyer in Prague, Dvůr Králové nad Labem and Slaný from 1897 . From 1912 to 1917 he worked at the Ministry of the Interior in Vienna and completed his habilitation in philosophical law.

Teaching

Balej worked primarily as a translator from English and as a legal theorist. He focused on ethical, humanistic issues and the place of humans in modern society. He also examined the character of the Czech people.

Works

Balej wrote philosophical essays that he published in Novina and the Wiener Tagesblatt .
