history
The place was first mentioned in a document as Hosicheshusun in 1074 , when the knight Gumbert donated the village to the canonic monastery on Hasunger Berg , donated by Archbishop Siegfried I of Mainz that year . The fate of the place remained closely linked with Hasungen Monastery, which was converted from a monastery into a Benedictine monastery of the Hirsauer Observanz in 1080/81 , until it was secularized in the Landgraviate of Hesse in 1527 after the introduction of the Reformation . The village church was founded in 1241 by the Archbishop of Mainz Siegfried III. affiliated to Hasungen Monastery. From 1585 the church was then a branch of Ehlen .
During the Thirty Years 'War the village was sacked by troops of the military leader Tilly around 1624, and during the Seven Years' War , in 1758/59, there were repeated looting by French troops lying in the woods around Oelshausen.
As part of the Hessian regional reform , Oelshausen became a district of Zierenberg on February 1, 1971 .
