František Götz

František Götz

František Götz (born January 1, 1894 in Kojátky near Vyškov ; † July 7, 1974 in Prague ) was a Czech literary historian, critic, dramaturge, translator and speaker of the Literární skupina (literary group).

He was the founder of the Brno expressionist Literární skupina and edited their magazine Host (guest). He was also a co-author of the Naše naděje, víra a práce (1922) (Our Hope, Faith and Work) manifesto .

As a dramaturge , he performed works by Czech authors, including Karel Čapek , Vítězslav Nezval , and Fráňa Šrámek . From 1928 to 1944 and 1965 to 1969 he was dramaturge at the Národní divadlo (National Theater in Prague).

Götz was an important theater and literary critic.
