František Tvrdek

František Tvrdek (born January 26, 1920 in Prague , † 2009 ) was a Czech theater maker , puppeteer and inventor of luminescent theater .

Life

František Tvrdek grew up in a family of actors. His mother was the owner of a theater costume rental company, his father an actor and puppeteer.

In 1958 the first performances of his variation on black theater took place. He used fluorescent colors for the set and his puppets, which glowed brightly when illuminated with ultraviolet light. The stage background, on the other hand, was black.

František Tvrdek has co-designed more than 50 television productions. He worked for both West German television and GDR children's television. He designed the television series " Plumpaquatsch ", which was broadcast by NDR in Hamburg for six years. In 1972 he designed the figures “ Maxifant and Minifant ” for ARD (all three dolls mentioned here are now on display in the Munich City Museum). From 1972 to 1974 "Circus Tvrdek" was created, in 1975 the television series "That comes from it" according to Rudyard Kipling, in 1977 the television series "It stays with it". His dolls were shown on GDR television in the television series “Spielhaus” from 1982 to 1983.
