The French striped fern ( Asplenium foreziense ) is a species of the genus of striped ferns ( Asplenium ) within the family of striped ferns (Aspleniaceae).

description

The French striped fern is a perennial herbaceous plant and reaches heights of 10 to 20 centimeters. The fronds are divided into a petiole and a leaf blade. The leaf stalk is shorter than the leaf blade and the stalk is brown up to the rachis . The rachis is green. The double to triple pinnate leaf blade is linear-lanceolate in outline and hardly or not at all narrowed towards the base. The lowest pair of plumage is often directed downwards and backwards. The leaflets are angularly serrated. The sori stand away from the edge.

The spores are ripe from July to September.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 144.

Occurrence

The French striped fern is not native to Central Europe and occurs here as a neophyte (new citizen) in Rhineland-Palatinate on the right bank of the Rhine, in Switzerland and in Alsace . It grows on silicate rocks and on walls. In terms of plant sociology, it is associated with the order Androsacetalia vandellii. Its distribution area includes Morocco, Algeria, Spain, France, Corsica, Sardinia, Italy, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany.

Taxonomy

Asplenium foreziense was first published in 1884 by Charles Magnier . The specific epithet foreziense refers to the Forez landscape in the French Loire department .
