The Franz Ferdinand barberry ( Berberis francisci-ferdinandi ) is a plant from the family of Barberry (Berberidaceae). She comes from West China .

description

The Franz Ferdinand barberry grows as a deciduous shrub up to 3.5 meters high ; its branches are overhanging, reddish in color, the thorns are one-piece and up to 2.5 centimeters long. The leaves are ovate-lanceolate, up to 7 centimeters long, stalked up to 3 centimeters long, reticulate, weakly shiny and irregularly serrated. The yellow flowers appear in May and are 20 to 35 in hanging panicles up to 12 centimeters long. The fruits are egg-shaped and scarlet.
