Franz Altmann (politician)

Franz Altmann (born March 25, 1885 in Altschwendt , Upper Austria ; † December 29, 1947 there ) was a farmer and politician .

After attending a one-class school and completing his military service in Bregen and Linz between 1906 and 1909, the farmer's son Franz Altmann married in a farmhouse in Rödham in 1911 and had a total of twelve children. He took part as a sergeant in the First World War in Russia , South Tyrol and Carinthia and was awarded three times for his bravery. From 1930 and after 1945 he was mayor of Altschwendt. In addition, he was district chairman of the ÖVP- Schärding from 1945 until his death and from 1931 to 1934 he was a member of the state parliament for the Christian Social Party . Altmann stayed in the background in the state parliament and was described as a lovable, idealistic person.
