Franz Anton Germiller was born in Mindelheim in Upper Swabia in 1682 , where he married Maria Salome Weißenburgerin on January 13, 1711. They had ten children.

From 1710 he is proven with numerous orders for churches and monasteries in Mindelheim and the surrounding area. In addition to oil and fresco painting , he was also active in decorative and barrel painting .

For the first time a work by him from 1710 is recorded. He received his most extensive commission in 1712/13 with the painting of the Mindelheim parish church of St. Stephan . Among other things, he painted pictures for the side altars, the Marian altar , the frescoes in the choir and on the nave ceiling. The choir stalls that he painted are now in the pilgrimage church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Mussenhausen . He also created the processional crucifix for 36 Kreuzer and the coat of arms of the church for four guilders in 1715. In 1719 he painted over a hole in the church vault that had been made by a falling beam. Most of his work there, however, was lost during renovations and renovations in the centuries that followed.

One of his daughters was in the Holy Cross Monastery in Mindelheim , for which he also created works.

Further works by him are still in Mindelheim and the surrounding area, including a former altarpiece in the Mindelheim crypt chapel , two paintings from the parish church and three paintings in the refectory of the monastery of the English Misses . He also painted the still preserved high altar picture in the former Jesuit Church of the Annunciation . He died on April 3, 1750 and was buried in the parish cemetery.

He was considered an accomplished master who painted well-proportioned figures in graphically finely worked out robes in tightly filled pictorial spaces. His paintings are brightly colored throughout. However, they lack the great momentum of baroque painting .
