Franz Anton von Losenstein

Franz Anton von Losenstein-Gschwendt (* 1642 in Vienna ; † June 8, 1692 ibid) was provost of the cathedral in Passau and titular bishop of Ducia .

Life

Franz Anton Graf (Prince since 1691) von Losenstein was the son of Count Georg Achaz II von Losenstein-Gschwendt, Land Marshal in Lower Austria, from his third marriage to Maria Franziska von Mansfeld-Vorderort, the daughter of Bruno III. from Mansfeld .

He was canon in 1664, provost of the cathedral in Passau in 1673 and titular bishop of Ducia , coadjutor of the Diocese of Olomouc . As cathedral construction commissioner, he played a key role in the baroque furnishings of the cathedral between 1677 and 1684 .

Franz Anton was the last Losensteiner; with his death in 1692 the sex in the male line died out. He was buried in the crypt of the Losenstein Chapel in Garsten Monastery , the construction of which he financed.
