Franz Axter

Franz Axter (born April 25, 1772 in Bamberg ; † July 29, 1808 there ) was a German medic and writer.

Life

Franz Axter began studying medicine at the University of Erfurt , but soon switched to the University of Jena with the same subject . After another move to the Universities of Erlangen and Würzburg , Axter was able to complete his studies in 1795 at the University of Bamberg with Anton Dorn with his dissertation De aeris atmospherici in corpus humanum influxu salubri et noxio .

After completing his doctorate , Axter went to Vienna and joined the Austrian army as a military doctor. Five years later he quit his job and returned to Germany. He wanted to settle down as a doctor in his hometown, but did not succeed.

In order to make a living, Axter became editor of several newspapers in Würzburg and Munich from autumn 1800 . From this time on he also wrote literary works such as novels, plays, etc. a. From 1807 Axter also acted as a customs officer in Schnaittach and continued to write works of fiction as such.

Franz Axter died on July 29, 1808 in Bamberg at the age of 36.
