Franz Bachem

Franz Bachem (born December 13, 1912 in Cologne ; † July 3, 2002 there ) was a German publisher .

Life

Franz Bachem initially completed an apprenticeship as a printer and studied at the master school for Germany's book printers in Munich . He then worked for several printing companies and publishing houses. Franz Bachem joined JP Bachem Verlag in Cologne after the end of the Second World War . He was mainly involved in the rebuilding of the family business founded in 1818 in post-war Germany and initially secured the printing business and later the publishing business. He switched the book printing business to modern offset printing .

He was managing director of the publishing house until 1977. Furthermore, the shareholder was involved as chairman of the corporate group advisory board and in the shareholders' meetings. Bachem was honorary chairman of the IHK teacher examination commission and the board of trustees of the Cologne factory schools . He was a board member of the state association of industrial employers' associations in North Rhine-Westphalia as well as chairman of the association of graphic companies in North Rhine-Westphalia and nationally since 1951 as a member of the main board of the federal printing association, its vice-president from 1963 to 1966.

In 1962 he was appointed Knight of the Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher by Cardinal Grand Master Eugène Cardinal Tisserant and invested in Cologne on December 15, 1962 by Lorenz Jaeger , Grand Prior of the German Lieutenancy . He was a Grand Officer of the Order and was honored with the Commander-in- Chief .
