Franz Bender (District Administrator)

Franz Bender (born April 4, 1884 in Vallendar , † January 21, 1983 in Minden ) was a German administrative officer. As district administrator , he headed the Wittlich district from 1924 to 1939 .

Life

He was the son of the wine merchant Alexander Bender and his wife Caroline nee Freiin von Berg-Dürenthal.

After attending school in Vallendar and after Franz Bender had embarked on a career as an administrative officer, he became a member of the Center Party . At times he worked in Koblenz . In May 1924 he took over the administration of the Wittlich district. On February 15, 1939, because of his earlier membership in the Center Party and close church ties, he had to wait and was finally transferred to the government in Minden on April 1, 1939 . His successor as district administrator in Wittlich was Günther Kraaz .

Fritz Bender was on the main board of the Eifelverein . As such, he was present, among other things, when the Trier branch in 1933 consecrated the Nicola Caspary Bank near Trier with a view of the Moselle. In 1935 he also consecrated the swimming pool in Wittlich .

family

Franz Bender married Aenne, nee Tillmann († 1972), in 1919. She was a daughter of the judiciary, lawyer and notary Josef Tillmann.
