Peter Franz Schumm

Peter Franz Jodokus Blasius Schumm (born February 3, 1765 in Senheim , † November 24, 1857 in Wittlich ) was a German district administrator .

Life

Peter Franz Schumm was a son of the married couple Franz Heinrich and his wife Maria Franziska Schumm, nee Goutzen from Senheim on the Moselle. After completing his school education, Schumm studied law at the University of Trier until 1786 . From 1786 to 1787 he worked initially as a legal intern and as a secretary at the electoral office in Wittlich before he was able to continue his law studies in Heidelberg . From 1794 to 1795 and from 1797 to 1798 he then worked as a bailiff in Kröv .

From 1796 to 1799 he worked as a clerk at the Wittlich Peace Court, but remained without activity from 1799 to 1800 due to anti-republican sentiments. In 1801 he found employment again as a secretary in the Mairie Wittlich before he became its Maire from 1803 to 1813 . Then from 1813 he took over the position of magistrate in the canton (canton) Wittlich.

In 1816 Schumm was first acting and in 1817 finally the first royal Prussian district administrator in the newly created district of Wittlich . After 30 years of service as district administrator, he retired on July 14, 1836 with effect from January 1, 1837 at his own request. Very old and after having served the residents of his district deservingly for almost half a century, Schumm died at the age of 92 in 1857.
