Franz Clara
Franz Clara (born October 2, 1781 in Abbey ; † March 3, 1873 in St. Michael near Castelrotto ) was a South Tyrolean Catholic clergyman. From 1822 he worked as a curator in St. Michael near Castelrotto.
Clara made an excellent contribution to the early geological exploration of the Dolomites and discovered numerous fossil deposits as a collector. The fossil shell species Claraia claraia was named after him.
