Franz Duhne

Franz Johann Wilhelm Duhne (born July 2, 1880 in Barmbek ; † December 11, 1945 in Milwaukee ) was a German middle-distance and obstacle runner .

In 1898 in Hamburg and in 1899 in Pforzheim he was German champion in the 1500 meter run . This made him the first German athletics champion to defend his title. In 1900 and 1902 he was third in the 200-meter run .

At the Olympic Games in Paris in 1900 he was sixth in the 2500 meter obstacle and 4000 meter obstacle.

Franz Duhne started for Germania Hamburg, one of the predecessor clubs of Hamburger SV . In 1902 he emigrated to the United States. Francis Duhne received US citizenship in 1939.
