Franz Falter

Franz Josef Falter (born January 17, 1931 in Vichtenstein , Upper Austria ; † February 16, 2014 ) was an Austrian organist .

Life

Falter grew up in Schärding . He received his first organ lessons at Schlierbach Abbey . He studied at the Bruckner Conservatory in Linz and at the Vienna University of Music (organ concert with Walter Pach (1904–1977), harpsichord with Gustav Leonhardt , Kapellmeister with Hans Swarowsky ).

Falter was a teacher of organ and composition at the Diocesan Conservatory for Church Music of the Archdiocese of Vienna , director of a Viennese music school, worked as a répétiteur at the Wiener Konzerthaus for around 10 years and from 1960 to 1990 he was a representative of the St. Stephen's Cathedral organist . He gave numerous organ concerts at home and abroad, including in the collegiate churches of Reichersberg , Wilhering and St. Florian .

In 1985 he was given the professional title of Professor by Federal President Rudolf Kirchschläger . Falter was buried on March 6, 2014 in Vienna's south-west cemetery (group 39, row 3, number 11).
