Franz Fillinger

Franz Fillinger (born May 5, 1909 in Vienna ; † August 12, 1983 ) was a German politician ( SED ). From 1959 to 1961 he was State Secretary in the Ministry of Trade and Supply of the GDR .

Life

Fillinger did illegal party work during the time of fascism and was imprisoned in prison. He was convicted by the Dresden Higher Regional Court on January 19, 1935, for preparation for high treason .

After the liberation he became a member of the Communist Party of Germany (KPD) again in the Soviet occupation zone and in 1946 a member of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED). From 1949 to 1952 he was head of the main personnel department in the Saxon Ministry of the Interior, later until the beginning of 1959 director of the German domestic and foreign trade company (DIA) glass and ceramics. He was then Deputy Minister and from July 1959 to February 1961 State Secretary and First Deputy Minister for Trade and Supply in the GDR. He succeeded Curt-Heinz Merkel, who had been appointed minister, and was replaced in his function by Werner Jarowinsky . He then acted as general director of the foreign trade company WMW-Export until 1963 . From 1964 he was Vice President and Director of the Chamber for Foreign Trade of the GDR. In June 1970 he was director of the GDR's first industrial exhibition in Mexico City .

Fillinger died at the age of 74 and was buried in the VdN department in the central cemetery in Berlin-Friedrichsfelde .
