Franz Fritsch (born December 5, 1895 in Vienna ; † May 28, 1955 ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ), member of the Viennese state parliament and member of the municipal council as well as the city councilor. Fritsch was married and had one daughter. In the 1950s he lived in the 3rd district of Vienna, Landstrasse .

Fritsch was born the son of a master butcher and learned his father's trade. He joined the Free Trade Unions in 1913 and the Social Democratic Labor Party of Austria in 1914. Fritsch did his military service during the First World War in the artillery on the Italian front and practiced his learned profession after the war. He was also increasingly involved in trade unions and politics. Fritsch worked as a butcher until 1931 and became an official of the health insurance fund in 1931. After the Social Democratic Party was banned in 1934 and the "Anschluss" in 1938, Fritsch suffered great difficulties because of his political views. In 1938 Fritsch was relieved of his job, but was returned to his old position after a few months due to the shortage of skilled workers.

After the end of the Second World War and the liberation of Vienna, Fritsch was nominated by the KPÖ as a representative of the Revolutionary Socialists for the Vienna City Senate in April 1945 , as the party lacked suitable experts at that time. Fritsch was the official city councilor for nutrition until November 1945, but had to cede this position to the communist Ernst Fellinger as a result of his transition to the SPÖ . After the state and local council elections on November 25, 1945, Fritsch was a local councilor and member of the state parliament until 1949, and on December 5, 1949 he was finally reappointed as an executive city councilor and was responsible for personnel matters, administrative and operational reform until he took up this office on Resigned October 22, 1952. From 1947 to 1950 he was chairman of the board of directors of the workers' bank .

After his death, Fritsch was buried at the Ottakringer Friedhof .
