Franz Glaser Sr.

Franz Glaser Sr. (* May 9, 1822 in Laubendorf , Austrian Empire ; † February 2, 1885 in Dornbach near Vienna , Austria-Hungary ) was an Austrian builder and mayor of Dornbach near Vienna.

Life

Franz Glaser was the son of Wenzel and Katharina Glaser, née Ficker, and grew up in Bohemia .

As a member of genius troops he was after the Hungarian surrender in October 1849 as Fortifikations mason polished in Komarno stationed where the sons Franz Glaser jun. and Heinrich Glaser from their marriage to Josefa Glaser, born in 1860, who died young. Dengler, were born. Both sons were architects and builders and continued to run their father's construction company after his death. In 1861 Franz Glaser sen. from the military and in 1863 married Antoinette Wenk (1837-1883), who later shot herself.

After leaving the military, Franz Glaser founded a construction company in Dornbach near Vienna. From 1867 he was a member of the Dornbach municipal council. In 1870 he received the master builder license and became a member of the master builder and mason cooperative in Vienna. In 1872 he built the prestigious "Villa Glaser" in Promenadegasse 53 , which from then on served him as his private residence.

In 1882 Glaser was elected mayor of his community. He held this office until death. His body was buried in the Dornbacher Friedhof .

Besides his son, Franz Glaser should not be confused with the city ​​architect of the same name (1864–1906) and the carpenter of the same name from Vienna- Neubau , born in 1887 .
