Franz Grandits (* January 5, 1964 ) is a former football player and now to football functionary . From December 9, 2004 to August 12, 2014 he was chairman of the Styrian first division club TSV Hartberg .

Career

As a soccer player

As a football player, Grandits was also involved with TSV Hartberg. In the summer of 1986 he came from SV Oberwart to the then national league club TSV Hartberg. with the Styrians with whom he won two championship titles in a row - 1994/95 in the regional league Styria and 1995/96 in the regional league middle - and thus the march through to the then 2nd division .

Due to the rise, Grandits had a two-year contract as a professional footballer . However, he played only eight games in the second highest league during this time. He made his debut under coach Manfred Wirth on July 31, 1996 in the 0-1 home defeat against SC Austria Lustenau . He played the last game in the first division on September 5, 1997 under coach Hermann Wagner in a 1-0 away win at SKN St. Pölten . Due to the descent from the 2nd division Grandits left the Hartberger and switched to TuS Greinbach in 1998. After just one year, Grandits returned to Hartberg, where he let his active career as a football player end.

As a functionary

His career as a football official was far more successful. Grandits took over the function of chairman at TSV Hartberg on December 9, 2004. Under his leadership, TSV Hartberg established itself as the top club in Styria. In the 2005/06 season the club was again able to celebrate the championship title in the Middle Regional League and thus promotion to the first division . However, this was only a short guest appearance, as TSV Hartberg had to relegate just a year later . The Hartbergers did not want to be satisfied with that and again won the championship title in the Middle Regional League in the 2008/09 season and rose again to the second highest league, which has now been renamed the First League . Since then, the Styrians have been an integral part of Austria's second-highest division. On August 12, 2014, he handed over the function of chairman to the club's former goalkeeper Jürgen Rindler .
