Franz Höhne (politician)

Franz Höhne (born June 13, 1904 in Regensburg ; † November 16, 1980 ibid) was a German SPD politician .

Life and work

After attending elementary school , Höhne completed an apprenticeship as a locksmith and then worked for the Reichsbahn . Since 1922 he was active in the union. Until it was banned in 1933, he was also a member of the Regensburg Free Gymnastics and Sports Club, a workers' sports club. In 1934, Höhne was dismissed from the Reichsbahn for political reasons and sentenced for preparation for high treason. Until 1938 he was first in prison and later also in the Dachau concentration camp . After his release from prison he worked as a car mechanic. After the Hitler assassination attempt on July 20, 1944 , he was held in the Flossenbürg concentration camp for three weeks .

After the Second World War, Höhne entered the service of the city of Regensburg, where he was involved in building up the economic administration. Later he joined the SPD as District Secretary for Lower Bavaria - Upper Palatinate .

Höhne joined the SPD in 1922. In 1933, Höhne was briefly on the city council of Regensburg, to which he was re-elected in 1946 and to which he belonged until 1948. From 1955 to 1968 he was district chairman of the SPD Niederbayern-Oberpfalz.

Höhne was a member of the German Bundestag from its first election in 1949 to 1969. He was always elected to parliament via the Bavarian state list of his party.
