Franz Heinrich Alexander Bucholtz

Franz Heinrich Alexander Bucholtz (born February 12, 1846 in Oldenburg (Oldb) , † September 8, 1905 in Berlin-Charlottenburg ) was a German lawyer and politician .

Life

Born Carl Franz Nikolaus Bucholtz as the son of the Council of State and later Eutin government president , Bucholtz studied law at the universities of Jena and Berlin after attending grammar school in Oldenburg . During his studies in 1864 he became a member of the Germania Jena fraternity .

After joining the Oldenburg civil service in 1871, he initially worked as an auditor at the Elsfleth Office and at the Jever Office. In 1873 he was appointed assessor . In 1876 he took over as Amtshauptmann the management of the Office Damme and in 1879 lecturer advice in the department of Finance Oldenburg and the first member of the Customs Directorate. From 1883 to 1890 he headed the Bodenkreditanstalt and then took over the chairmanship of the customs directorate. In 1892 he was appointed Oberfinanzrat, and in 1899 as a secret Oberfinanzrat and chief customs director. Awarded the title of Council of State on February 8, 1901 , from April 1, 1901, he initially acted as a representative at the Federal Council in Berlin. As a Privy Councilor of State, he was finally appointed Federal Councilor in 1903, an office that Bucholtz's father had also held at times. Bucholtz remained in this position until his death.

Bucholtz had been a member of the literary and sociable association since 1890 and was also a member of the regional association for antiquity and regional history, of which he was temporarily chairman. He published a series of essays on the history of the Oldenburg region and was co-editor of the architectural and art monuments of the Duchy of Oldenburg , in which he edited the sections on prehistory.
