Franz Hlavac

Franz Hlavac (* 1948 in Amstetten ) is an Austrian journalist .

Life

Franz Hlavac attended the Schottengymnasium in Vienna and then studied contemporary history and German at the University of Vienna , where he received his doctorate in philosophy in 1973.

From 1971 he worked as a freelancer for various newspapers before he was employed in the current service of ORF television in 1974 . From 1975 to 1984 he worked in the internal political editorial team of Zeit im Bild . In the following years he helped design the programs Politics on Friday and Domestic Report and took over the management of the main documentation department. In 1989 Hlavac became program coordinator in the television information department and head of the European magazine Compass .

From January 1, 1992 to August 2010, Franz Hlavac headed the business editorial department of ORF television. He was also responsible for the station's business magazine. Over the years these were Schilling , then Euro Austria and € co . In 2009 he and his wife accepted the “ golden handshake ” and in 2010 they took early retirement.

He has been working as a freelance journalist since 2010.

In August 2005, Hlavac was awarded the professional title of Professor . He is married to ORF journalist Gisela Hopfmüller and lives in Vienna.
