Gisela Hopfmüller

Gisela Hopfmüller-Hlavac (* 1955 in Klagenfurt ) is an Austrian radio - and TV - journalist .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1973, she studied art history and German literature in Graz . In 1980 she graduated as Dr. phil.

Hopfmüller gained his first journalistic experience during her school days at the Volkszeitung in Klagenfurt and later at the Süd-Ost-Tagespost in Graz. From 1980 to 1982 she worked as a culture editor for the Kärntner Volkszeitung . Just one year later she became head of department there .

In 1982 she moved to Vienna and became head of the FPÖ Federal Press Office. In 1984 she switched to ORF radio, for which she initially worked as a freelancer. After a few months she became an editor in the domestic affairs department , where she was best known for her critical interviews with politicians. In 1991 she was the first woman to be entrusted with the management of a domestic policy department on ORF.

From 1997 to 2002 Hopfmüller was in charge of the program and host of the political magazine " Report " on ORF television. From June 1, 2002 to 2009, she was in charge of the “Education and Current Affairs” department at ORF and was thus responsible for all of the TV's science reports. At times she has also moderated the knowledge magazine Modern Times .

She has been working as a freelance journalist and presenter since 2010.

Gisela Hopfmüller is married to the ORF journalist Franz Hlavac and lives in Vienna.
