People's newspaper (Carinthia)

The Volkszeitung was a newspaper that appeared in Carinthia and East Tyrol from 1945 to 1990 .

It was founded in 1945 by the Austrian People's Party , initially as a weekly newspaper . Only the first edition appeared under the title Kärntner Volkszeitung , after that the title Volkszeitung was used. From 1946 the Volkszeitung appeared as a daily newspaper . The editor-in-chief was initially Josef Maier, followed in 1971 by Walter Raming. In the same year a newspaper network was formed: The Salzburger Volkszeitung and the Tiroler Nachrichten appeared as the headers of the Kärntner Volkszeitung. In February 1990 the newspaper was discontinued.
