Franz Hoffmann (philosopher)

Franz Karl Hoffmann (born January 19, 1804 in Aschaffenburg , † October 22, 1881 in Würzburg ) was a German philosophical writer .

Life

Franz Hoffmann first studied law from 1826 to 1827, then philosophy and also theology and science in Munich until 1832. Then he devoted himself to philosophical studies under Franz von Baader . He was employed as a professor at the Lyceum in Amberg in 1834 and was appointed full professor of philosophy in Würzburg the following year. Collected his philosophical writings appeared in 8 volumes in Erlangen between 1868 and 1882. As a student of Baader with Schlüter, Lutterbeck and others he arranged the publication of Baader's Complete Works (Leipzig 1850–60, 16 volumes). He died in Würzburg on October 22, 1881.
