Franz K. is a German rock band from Witten an der Ruhr.

Band history

Franz K. was founded in 1969 by Mick Hannes ( guitar , * July 15, 1951), Peter Josefus ( bass , vocals , * November 6, 1951, † November 14, 1997) and Stefan Josefus ( drums , * February 24, 1947) .

At first the trio played blues and covered blues-rock, e.g. B. by Cream , Jimi Hendrix , Ten Years After , there was also jazz / crossover. In the beginning there were also gigs, e.g. B. combined with local political cabaret by her roadie Manfred . After 1970 she appeared more often with the poet Arnold Leifert . During this time, the style became increasingly rockier to hard rock .

In 1972 they released their first LP Sensemann and were among the pioneers of German rock . There were only two tracks on this LP, each 20 minutes long. In 1973 the less progressive second LP Rock in Deutsch followed . Both records did not sell well. In the next few years, Franz K. released several singles. The breakthrough came in 1977 with the album Bock auf Rock . Between 1978 and 1983 the band released six more albums. After that it became quieter around the band and under the producer Peter Orloff they musically moved into the Schlager area.

In 1997 Peter Josefus died. In the middle of 2000 his brother Stefan released the last recording with Peter Nachts Your Kisses Are Hot for publication and put together a sampler CD with pop titles from recent years. At a performance in 2004 as part of the Rock for Animals event in the sold-out Bochum colliery , Mick Hannes and Stefan Josefus played live together for the first time in a long time, they played six titles. In autumn 2008 SPV released a double CD with the two LPs “Bock auf Rock” and “Geh zum Teufel”. In the summer of 2009, Franz K. started a comeback. On September 4th, 2009, her album was released with the name "More Respect".

The 2010 single "Die Gute" is the only German version of his world hit "The Joker" authorized by Steve Miller . In July 2010, Franz K. performed at the open-air concert in their home town of Witten- Anne.
