Arnold Leifert (born November 24, 1940 in Soest , Westphalia ; † September 6, 2012 ) was a German writer .

Life

Arnold Leifert studied German , philosophy and Protestant theology from 1961 after graduating from high school . From 1970 he was a religion teacher at the Montessori high school in Cologne . From 1987 to 1996 he was a teacher at a secondary school in Overath , after which he was a freelance writer . From 1974 he lived on a farm in the Bergisch Much .

Arnold Leifert was active as a writer since the 1960s . He was the author of poems , stories , essays and radio plays as well as translated from English and Dutch . He was also active in the literary life of the city of Siegburg , where he headed a literary workshop from 1981 and was a member of the jury of the Rheinisches Literaturpreis Siegburg . In the 1970s Leifert presented his texts on a tour with the German rock - band Franz K. , in the 1980s, he worked with the group he founded Hohn live together and in 1995 he joined with the accordionist Cathrin Pfeifer. Since 2004, the outdoor presentation of panels with poems by Leifert has formed the Lyrikweg , a hiking trail in the municipality of Much. Arnold Leifert was a member of the Association of German Writers , the PEN Center of the Netherlands and the Berlin Working Group on Literature Around the World .
