Franz Knieps

Franz Knieps (* 10. July 1956 ) is a German lawyer , health expert and director of BKK umbrella organization eV He served as department head in the Federal Ministry of Health under Minister Ulla Schmidt one of its main advisers who speak eminence grise and exercised considerable influence on the health policy of 2003 to 2009.

Life

Franz Knieps studied law at the Universities of Bonn and Freiburg from 1975 to 1981 . From 1982 to 1986 Knieps worked as a research assistant for Bernd von Maydell at the Institute for Labor Law and Social Security Law at the University of Bonn. From 1986 to 1987 he was a consultant for fundamental legal issues at the AOK Federal Association . From there he was seconded to the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs to support the work on the health reform from Minister Norbert Blüm from 1987 to 1988 . In 1989 he returned to the AOK Federal Association as head of the political department. He held this position until 2003, since 1998 in the position of Managing Director Politics. After the Volkskammer election in the GDR in March 1990, he worked as a political advisor to Minister Regine Hildebrandt until it joined the Federal Republic . In February 2003, the SPD member Knieps was appointed head of the health care, statutory health insurance and long-term care insurance department in the Federal Ministry of Health by Ulla Schmidt . In December 2009 he was put into temporary retirement by Federal Minister of Health Philipp Rösler . From then until February 2013, Knieps worked in the management consultancy Wiese-Consult ; from March 2013 to June 2013 he worked at WMP HealthCare GmbH. Since July 2013 he has been a board member of the BKK umbrella association . Franz Knieps is widowed and has two children.
