Franz Marhold

Franz Marhold (born February 11, 1955 in Vienna ) is an Austrian law scholar and university professor . Marhold the Institute for Austrian and European conducts labor and social law of the Vienna University of Economics . Before that, he was head of the Institute for Labor and Social Law at the Karl Franzens University in Graz from 1996 to 2012 .

Life

Franz Marhold was born in Vienna in 1955. After studying law and obtaining a doctorate in law in Vienna in 1977, he became a university assistant at the Institute for Labor Law and Social Law at the University of Vienna in the same year , where he qualified as a professor in 1984 for the subjects of labor law and social law . In 1988 he was appointed associate professor and in 1990 full professor for civil law and related areas at the University of Konstanz . In 1996 he was appointed full professor for labor law and social law at the Karl Franzens University in Graz . He also works as a lawyer and has been a partner at Herbst Kinsky in Vienna since October 1, 2012.

Since September 1, 2012, Franz Marhold has been head of the Institute for Austrian and European Labor and Social Law at the Vienna University of Economics and Business as head of the institute , where he is also a full professor in teaching and research.

Scientific work

Marhold is the author of specialist and textbooks on labor law and social law as well as scientific articles. The best known is the textbook "Austrian Labor Law", together with Michael Friedrich, and "European Labor Law" together with Maximilian Fuchs. The habilitation of the former Austrian Science Minister Beatrix Karl was also supervised by Marhold.

Other activities

In addition to his work as a scientist, Marhold held positions in various committees. Marhold was a member of the ORF Board of Trustees , Chairman of the University Council of the Medical University of Graz and Chairman of the Social and Health Forum in the Main Association of Austrian Social Insurance Institutions.

He currently has the following functions:

Franz Marhold is the holder of the Great Decoration of Honor for Services to the Republic of Austria (2005) and of the Great Decoration of Honor of the State of Styria (2014).
