Franz Michael Florenz von Lilien (born July 30, 1696 in Werl , presumably in the tower house on the market, † July 31, 1776 in Vienna ) was a Thurn-und-Taxis - court marshal and Werler's heir-alder .

Life

His father was Gerhard Franz von Lilien , who received confirmation of imperial nobility in 1708. At a young age, von Lilien joined the von Thurn und Taxis family , initially as a court page. At the age of about forty he was an advisor to the prince and looked after his interests at the imperial court in Vienna. The development of the imperial post office of the empire was significantly influenced by his proposals; In 1755 he was responsible for the introduction of the mail car. He is considered one of the most important postmen of the 18th century. In 1747 he was raised to the hereditary imperial baron status for his services by Emperor Franz I.

In 1756 he received a certificate of praise from the emperor and was simultaneously appointed general manager of the Imperial and Dutch Post Office. Prince Alexander Ferdinand von Thurn und Taxis appointed the secret councilor Franz Michael Florenz Freiherr von Lilien as president of all Thurn and Taxis institutions.

First marriage

Von Lilien was married three times. On October 8, 1741, he married Christine Ludovika Freiin von Schack († 1746) in Frankfurt am Main. The marriage resulted in three sons and a daughter. On July 14, 1742, Alexander Ferdinand was born, the successor of his father as general manager of the Reich and Dutch Post. Car (born July 9, 1743 in Nuremberg) was general of the cavalry , secret council and K. u. K. Chamberlain . Friedrich (born August 31, 1745) reached the rank of lieutenant general. The daughter, whose date of birth has not been recorded, was called Theresia and married the directorial envoy Freiherr von Buchenberg.

Second marriage

Von Lilien then married Theresia Freiin von Bartenstein († July 30, 1754), the daughter of the Bohemian Vice Chancellor Christoph Freiherr von Bartenstein; the marriage date has not been recorded. Two sons were born from this marriage. On September 18, 1748, Christoph was born in Vienna and became the head post office director. Joseph (* 1753) became captain and landowner at Hohenbrugg Castle (see Hohenbrugg-Weinberg ) in Styria.

Third marriage

After von Lilien had become a widower for the second time, he entered into another marriage a year after the death of his second wife and married Maria Anna Freiin von Plittersorf on July 15, 1755. The wedding took place at Trugenhofen Castle ( Trugenhofen (Dischingen) ). The youngest son Polycarp was born in 1757 and became the director of the post office in Linz.
