Franz Obermeier (born August 25, 1946 in Freising ) is a German politician ( CSU ).

Life and work

After GCSEs in 1963 at the State Secondary School in Moosburg completed upper Meier to 1966 a lesson for operation repairman and 1967 began a mechanical engineering -Studies at Polytechnic Regensburg , which he in 1971 as a graduate - Engineering ended (FH). He then worked as a construction engineer until 1978. Since 1996 he has been managing director of the Society for Disposal in Upper Bavaria (GEO) .

Franz Obermeier is Catholic , married and the father of two children.

Political party

Obermeier joined the CSU in 1968 and was chairman of the CSU district association Freising from 2006 to 2007 .

MP

Obermeier was a member of the Freising District Council from 1988 to 2014 and a member of the German Bundestag from 1998 to 2013 . From 1998 to 2002 he was chairman of the Enquête Commission on Sustainable Energy Supply .

Franz Obermeier has entered the Bundestag four times as a directly elected member of the Freising constituency . In the 2005 Bundestag election he achieved 56.5% of the first votes and in the 2009 Bundestag election it was 46.9%. In the 2013 federal election , Obermeier did not run.

Public offices

From 1978 to 1996 Obermeier was the full-time 1st mayor of the municipality of Zolling .
