Franz Peter Lang

Franz Peter Lang (born June 3, 1948 in Mainz ) is a German economist . From 1990 to 2019 he was a professor at the Institute for Economics at the Technical University of Braunschweig .

Scientific career

The study of economics at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main and the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz joined Lang in 1976 as Master of Economics from. He then worked as a research assistant, first at what was then the comprehensive university in Essen (since 2003: University of Duisburg-Essen ), where he received his doctorate in 1979, then at the Ruhr University in Bochum , where he completed his habilitation in 1986.

After teaching and researching at the Tongji University in Shanghai (China) as well as substitute professorships at the University of Mannheim and the University of Saarland , he accepted a position at the TU Braunschweig in 1989, where he worked until 2019.

Lang was a “Policy Fellow” of the Institute for the Future of Work (IZA) , is a member of the Advisory Board of the Global Labor Organization, co-editor of the Herald of Kyiv National University of Trade and Economics and the European Cooperation journal .

His early work deals with spatial economic problems, structural change induced by foreign trade, and computer-aided dynamic analyzes of monetary policy issues. After 1989 he devoted himself to problems of the transformation process. From 2015 to 2019 he worked in the research program "Networked quarters for the future region of Wolfsburg, strategies for implementing the energy transition in the urban context" of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy.
