Franz Pfannenstiel (born April 6, 1902 in traditional costume , † 1945 in the Soviet Union ) was a leading functionary of the Revolutionary Socialists of Austria .

Life

Franz Pfannenstiel came to Vienna with his parents after the end of the First World War , where he worked as a trained iron founder in various companies. In 1928 he joined the Social Democratic Labor Party , and in 1930 the Republican Protection Association .

After February 1934 Pfannenstiel was one of the leading functionaries of the Revolutionary Socialists. He was one of those who continued illegal work even during the Nazi era , v. a. in the socialist workers' aid for the benefit of the families of imprisoned comrades.

In the late summer of 1939, numerous Revolutionary Socialists were arrested, including Franz Pfannenstiel. He was two years and three months ' imprisonment sentenced in 1941 to the Dachau concentration camp transferred to 1944, the penal battalion 999 confiscated. On the Eastern Front he was taken prisoner by the Soviets , where he died, already weakened by the long imprisonment.

Honor

The Kreuzgasse 87-89 residential complex with 178 apartments, which was built in Vienna in 1924/25 according to plans by Erich Leischner , was named Pfannenstielhof in 1949 after Franz Pfannenstiel .
