Franz Ponweiser (born September 15, 1975 in Neunkirchen ) is a former Austrian soccer player and now coach .
Career
As a player
Ponweiser played in the BNZ Burgenland between 1990 and 1994 . For the 1994/95 season he moved to SC Hochwolkersdorf . For the 1995/96 season he joined the regional league team ASK Kottingbrunn , for whom he played for half a year before returning to Hochwolkersdorf. In 1996 he moved to ASK Stoob .
For the 1998/99 season Ponweiser moved to the regional division FC Deutschkreutz . In the following three seasons he completed 82 regional league games for Deutschkreutz, in which he scored eight goals. With the club, he was relegated to the regional league in 2001 . He then moved to the fourth-class SC Ritzing for the 2001/02 season . With Ritzing he rose to the regional league in 2004 .
In January 2006 he switched to ASK Neutal . After the 2007/08 season, he ended his active career.
As a trainer
As early as the 2006/07 season he worked as a coach at ASK Neutal , where he was also active as a player. For the 2008/09 season he was coach of the fifth-rate SC Ritzing , where he had been active as a player between 2001 and 2005. Ponweiser led Ritzing from the fifth highest division back to the regional league within two seasons. After four seasons as coach of Ritzing, he moved to the fourth-class ASK Horitschon for the 2012/13 season .
After three seasons as coach of Horitschon, he left the club after the 2014/15 season and moved to AKA Burgenland . At the academy, he first trained the U-15 team in the 2015/16 season, then the U-16 team for six months. In January 2017 he became the Academy's Managing Director Sport.
For the 2019/20 season he was coach of the Bundesliga club SV Mattersburg . With Mattersburg he finished tenth in the table in that season. After the 2019/20 season, he left the club and switched to ÖFB , where he supports Thomas Eidler in training as a coach.
