Anton Kats

Anton Kats (* 1983 in Kherson ) is a Ukrainian visual artist , musician and dancer .

life and work

Anton Kats studied up to his master’s degree at the Berlin University of the Arts and did his doctorate at Goldsmiths, University of London . He teaches at the Kunsthochschule Berlin-Weißensee , Ravensbourne University London , New York University and Goldsmiths, University of London.

"Kats develops practice-oriented research projects with which he examines the ambiguity of art practice as a question of agency and intentionality , developing site-specific works that deal with structures of self-organization, self- education , marginalized people and the non- normative ."

With his concepts for the radio works “radio narrowcasts” and “concrete listening”, Kats explores the radio's power to act. As part of the official documenta 14 program, he developed the projects “A-Letheia” in Athens and “Narrowcast House” as an open studio and listening room in Kassel. Anton Kats exhibited at the Serpentine Gallery , the Tate Modern , The Showroom , Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Bergen Kunsthall , in the House of World Cultures and at the 10th Berlin Biennale , as well as at the Kochi-Muziris Biennale 2018 out.
