Franz Quaglio (born April 22, 1844 in Munich , † February 19, 1920 in Wasserburg am Inn ) was a German painter.

Career

Franz Quaglio came from the northern Italian family of artists, the Quaglio , who had lived in Munich since the end of the 18th century . His father was the theater painter Simon Quaglio , from whom he received his first artistic instruction. From 1862 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. He was a student of Franz Adam . Franz Quaglio created almost exclusively genre pictures (rural scenes, soldier scenes, postillons, riding Circassians, tightrope walkers), initially using the fine, delicate technique of his uncle Lorenzo Quaglio , later by Carl Theodor von Piloty and finally influenced by the Impressionists. Quaglio was a sought-after artist who was very productive in terms of the number of his paintings. Quaglio was among other things the teacher of Elisabeth Vilma Lwoff-Parlaghy , to whom he gave private lessons.
