Franz Renggli (born September 1, 1952 ) is a former Swiss cross-country skier .

Career

Renggli first started at the 1976 Winter Olympics in Innsbruck at the age of 23 . After finishing 12th in the 15 km individual race, he ran the 50 km to 18th place. In the relay race, he reached fifth place together with Edi Hauser , Heinz Gähler and Alfred Kälin . The same season he reached position two years later with the team at the World Championships 1978 in Finland's Lahti . At the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid , Renggli only started in the individual disciplines and was 27th over 15 km and tenth over 50 km. At the 1982 World Championships in Oslo , he was seventh with the team, which this time included Renggli, Alfred Schindler , Konrad Hallenbarter and Andy Grünenfelder . In the individual over 50 km he reached 19th place. It was his last international tournament.

During his playing days, Renggli was a multiple Swiss champion in cross-country skiing. In 1971 he won his first two junior titles in singles and relay in Einsiedeln . In 1977 he won silver over the 30 km for seniors. His two brothers Beat and Bruno were also successful as cross-country skiers.
