Franz Richard Maria Joseph Gattermann (born February 13, 1753 in Schweich , † March 14, 1830 in Trier ) was a German judge and civil servant.

Gate man was the son of the Kur-Trier council and mayor Friedrich Franz Gattermann. He attended the philosophical faculty of the University of Trier and was baccalaureus there in 1776. Then he worked as a lawyer in Trier. In 1778 he became a high court lay judge at the electoral court. On November 27, 1779 he was appointed bailiff in the St. Wendel office by Elector Clemens Wenzeslaus . In personal union there, he was also the official cellar and special collector. In the city of St. Wendel he was the city school leader and council member. In addition to his job as bailiff in St. Wendel, he was also a real councilor at the Appellhof in Trier from August 1, 1788.

With the capture of the left bank of the Rhine by French revolutionary troops , the St. Wendel office was also occupied by the French on New Year's Day 1794 and later annexed. Gattermann was in Trier at the time. He could not return to St. Wendel during the French era , but was formally listed as a bailiff in Kurtrier until 1797. In fact, he worked in various functions for the elector. After the Peace of Campo Formio it was clear that the St. Wendel office would remain French. Gattermann entered French service and became General Procurator at the Koblenz Criminal Court.
