Franz Ring

Franz Ring (born October 19, 1944 in Breslau ) is a German diplomat . From September 2004 to June 2008 he was Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Nepal .

Career

Ring first studied economics at the Free University of Berlin . After completing his studies, he took a postgraduate course at the Department of Agricultural Development at the Technical University of Berlin .

From 1972 to 1974 he worked for the World Food Organization (FAO) in Santiago de Chile. In 1975/76 he worked for WestLB in Düsseldorf. Finally, he joined the Foreign Office in 1977 . There he held posts in Bonn, Paris, Rangoon, Beijing, Tehran, Dubai and Lilongwe. In September 2004 he took up the post of ambassador in the Nepalese capital Kathmandu . He was replaced by Verena Countess von Roedern .

In 2016, Ring joined the AfD and tried to get a place on the list for the 2019 European elections .
