Franz Schindler (born January 13, 1956 in Teublitz ) is a Bavarian lawyer and former member of the state parliament of the SPD .

After graduating from high school , Schindler studied law and political science at the University of Regensburg . In 1981 he finished his studies with the first state examination in law, followed in 1983 with his master's thesis and in 1983 he completed the second state examination. Since then he has been working as an independent lawyer in Schwandorf .

Franz Schindler was first active with the Young Socialists before he joined the SPD. He was a member of the city council of Teublitz. In 1990 he was elected to the Schwandorf City Council. There he was chairman of the SPD parliamentary group. Schindler was also chairman of the SPD sub-district Schwandorf / Cham . In autumn 2000 he was elected chairman of the Upper Palatinate SPD district association . In addition, Franz Schindler is a member of the state executive committee of the SPD Bavaria .

Franz Schindler was a member of the Bavarian State Parliament for the SPD parliamentary group from 1990 to 2018 . From 1990 to 1994 he was a member of the Submissions and Complaints Committee and the Environment Committee.

In his second term he was elected to the Committee on Local Affairs and Homeland Security and was vice-chairman of the Plutonium Committee of Inquiry.

From 1998 to 2003 he was chairman of the committee for petitions and complaints (" Petitions Committee "). There he took care of the problems of the citizens, who turn to the state parliament.

Since the state elections on September 21, 2003, he was chairman of the Committee on Constitution, Law, Parliamentary Affairs and Consumer Protection. He was a member of the Judges Election Commission.

In the parliamentary group he was constitutional and legal policy spokesman. He headed the working group “Constitutional, Legal and Parliamentary Issues” of the SPD parliamentary group.

Franz Schindler was always elected from the Upper Palatinate SPD district list. In the state elections in 2008 he ran as a direct candidate in the Schwandorf constituency , but was beaten by Otto Zeitler from the CSU .

In the election to the Bavarian state parliament in autumn 2018, Schindler did not run again.

He is married and has one child.
