Franz Schneeweiß (painter)

Franz Schneeweiß (born May 6, 1926 in Villach ; † February 27, 1982 ) was an Austrian academic painter and sculptor .

Franz Schneeweiß actually wanted to become a teacher, so he graduated from the teacher training institute. After the war, however, he decided to pursue a career as an artist and over the course of his creative period made a name for himself as a painter and sculptor. He was a student of Willi Zunk. His works are diverse, from watercolors to nudes and portraits, to landscapes, mosaics and facade designs. Schneeweiß worked both representationally and abstractly.

He was a co-founder of the "Society for the Promotion of New Art - Group 508" and as the latter publisher of art and literature publications. Schneeweiß took part in the exhibition of the 1st Great Austrian Art Exhibition in the Künstlerhaus in Vienna and in the Künstlerhaus in Klagenfurt . He was awarded the title of professor.

He was awarded the title of professor for his work. Since 1987 there has been a Franz-Schneeweiß-Weg in the St. Leonhard district of Villach.
