Franz Suter (born March 13, 1890 in Gränichen ; † July 1, 1914 in Courbevoie ) was a Swiss cyclist .

Franz Suter was one of six brothers ( Max , Paul , Fritz, Gottfried and Heiri ) who were all racing cyclists. Their father, a master locksmith, had awakened their enthusiasm for cycling, who had built a velocipede himself. In 1908 Franz Suter was third in the Swiss road championships. In 1911 he won the six-day race in Hamburg together with his brother Paul ; thus they were the first Swiss to win a six-day race.

In 1912 Franz Suter won Rund um die Hainleite , Rund um Lausitz and the long-distance journeys Nuremberg-Munich-Nuremberg and Vienna-Berlin . In 1914, when he was walking across a level crossing with Oscar Egg and Paul Suter, he was hit by a train and died at the age of 24 in front of his brother Paul.
